We have **three horses of interest today**, beginning at Beverley before moving on to the evening card at Salisbury.

There is a common theme to all three: **progressive or lightly raced horses stepping into races that look well suited to their profiles**. As always, though, price remains important and we won't be chasing selections simply because we fancy them.

## 4.15 Beverley – MR MOONSHINE

**1 POINT WIN – only if 4.26 or bigger is available**
**Our tissue: 4.26**

Mr Moonshine has been knocking firmly on the door and looks ready to get his head in front.

The three-year-old has shown improved form since being stepped up in distance on his last two starts. At Chester 19 days ago he again ran an excellent race, travelling close to the pace before challenging strongly in the closing stages. He briefly disputed the lead inside the final furlong before being edged out late, eventually finishing third, beaten only a neck and a nose.

That effort confirmed that this sort of trip is bringing out the best in him.

He has already shown that he stays around 1m4f and has form on Tapeta, good to firm and good to soft ground, so today's **good-to-firm surface should hold no fears**. The application of **cheekpieces for the first time** is another interesting factor and may just help him find that little extra when it matters.

We are not alone in liking his chances. Racing TV's Timeform verdict also puts Mr Moonshine on top, highlighting the improvement he has made since going up in distance and suggesting that he can finally open his account. At The Races reaches a similar conclusion, noting his two narrow defeats since stepping up in trip and the potential benefit of the cheekpieces. citeturn291050search0turn291050search3

Grey Fable, who finished half a length behind him at Chester, reappears and provides a useful form reference, while That Darn Cantor and Wardlaw also deserve respect.

The problem is likely to be **the price**.

Our tissue is **4.26**, and the early market has understandably identified Mr Moonshine as one of the obvious horses in the race. We have no interest in taking a short price simply for the sake of having a bet.

**The bet is therefore straightforward: 1 point win if we can obtain 4.26 or better. Otherwise, no bet.**

## 7.34 Salisbury – RUBY WEDDING

**2 POINTS WIN**
**Our tissue: 4.10**

Ruby Wedding is our second selection and potentially one of the more interesting runners on the card.

She is a lengthy, scopey filly with a pedigree containing plenty of stamina. She is a half-sister to several winners, including useful performers Jewel In My Crown and Rosa Gold, while her dam won over distances up to 1m2f.

More importantly, Ruby Wedding herself is now beginning to show that stamina on the racecourse.

She won at Hamilton before producing another improved effort when switched to the Tapeta at Newcastle last time. Racing in touch with the leaders, she travelled strongly, moved to the front over a furlong out and kept battling after being headed inside the final furlong.

The horse that beat her, **Glory Road**, remains very lightly raced and is one we think could develop into a pretty useful performer. Ruby Wedding lost little in defeat and the performance suggested there is more to come.

She has now demonstrated that she stays this sort of distance and has acted on everything from good to firm to heavy ground as well as the all-weather.

Today's race should also be run at a **proper tempo**, which we view as another positive. Ruby Wedding travels well and stays strongly, so a genuinely-run 1m4f should play to her strengths rather than expose them.

Salisbury itself should suit. The final half-mile rises steadily towards the finish, putting an emphasis on stamina, something which looks very much in Ruby Wedding's favour. citeturn342032search8

Interestingly, Racing TV and Sporting Life are also firmly in her camp. Their verdict describes this as a valuable handicap in which three-year-olds have a good record and gives **Ruby Wedding the vote**, pointing to her latest second behind a well-backed improver at Newcastle. Counter Intuitive is regarded as one of the principal dangers. citeturn342032search4turn342032search5

She remains relatively unexposed, is progressing and today's conditions look ideal.

**Ruby Wedding is a 2-point win selection.**

**Our tissue: 4.10.**

## 8.04 Salisbury – SEVEN SISTERS

**2 POINTS WIN**
**Our tissue: 3.00**

We finish the evening with **Seven Sisters**, and there was plenty to like about her latest run despite the bare finishing position.

She finished fourth at Chester last time, but we felt she **never looked comfortable around the track**.

Drawn wide and racing towards the rear, she had to make her challenge around the outside. She was forced very wide turning for home yet still made significant ground, challenging the leaders inside the final furlong before her effort flattened out close home.

The official result shows her beaten only around a length despite everything not falling her way.

Today's switch to the **far more conventional Salisbury layout** is therefore a major positive.

Seven Sisters is also bred to be better than an ordinary handicapper.

By Kingman out of Galileo mare Alina, she is a half-sister to several very good horses, headed by **Barney Roy**, a top-class performer over 1m to 1m4f, and the smart Noble Dynasty.

She remains lightly raced, having had only four career starts, and won at Doncaster in June before that Chester effort. She runs from an official mark of 81 and there is every reason to believe we have not yet seen the ceiling of her ability. She represents **Ralph Beckett** for owners **Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy**. 

Sporting Life's analysis reaches much the same conclusion, suggesting it is difficult to believe we have seen the best of Seven Sisters given her pedigree and connections and expecting the return to a conventional track to help. **Supplicate**, who arrives seeking a fourth consecutive victory, is clearly the principal danger.

That is a rival we respect, but Seven Sisters may simply have more improvement available.

And with a Tony Bloom-owned runner, **the market is always worth watching closely**.

On a track that should suit her considerably better than Chester, Seven Sisters has strong claims.

**2 POINTS WIN.**

**Our tissue: 3.00.**

## Today's Selections

**4.15 Beverley – MR MOONSHINE**
1 point win **only at 4.26 or bigger**
Tissue: **4.26**

**7.34 Salisbury – RUBY WEDDING**
**2 points win**
Tissue: **4.10**

**8.04 Salisbury – SEVEN SISTERS**
**2 points win**
Tissue: **3.00**

The key today is **price discipline**. Mr Moonshine is very likely to be shorter than we want, and if the market doesn't offer our price we simply move on. Ruby Wedding and Seven Sisters are the stronger plays, with both possessing the profile of fillies who may still have more improvement to come.
