It is a relatively quiet betting day for us, with just one selection, but there is enough to like about Barak Warrior in the 3:34 at Leicester to make him a confident play. We don't often dip our toe into Class 5 handicaps, but occasionally a race
Saturday 8 August 2026 — Newmarket, Haydock, Ascot and Redcar The look back Fenlander was our one-point selection yesterday and finished fifth at 5.6. He raced prominently and led the main group into the final furlong, which is close to the shape we wanted, but he emptied inside the
Yesterday Two bets, two losses, minus three points. Both went close enough to sting and neither result changes anything about how they were struck. One point bet Sarangpur finished third at Brighton. He came here on a roll and ultimately failed to meet market expectations, but largely because he raced
First of all sincerest apologies for the late arrival of the article - we have been switching to a brand new server which hopefully give us more processing power, however it did not go as smoothly as planned. Sorry. No bets again yesterday so nothing to report. First, the ground Good
The look back Monday's two rated races were both passes. Tuesday had nothing on the card that came near a threshold, so we ran the Goodwood horses-to-follow piece instead. Today is similar - here are the reasons for the no bet day: First, the ground Brighton: Good

Yesterday Six bets, six losses, minus ten points. The worst day since we started publishing, and it gave back most of a profitable week. Gone By was the headline and the humiliation. We struck at 16.04 against a fair price of 6.17 — a 160% overlay, the largest figure
Saturday 1 August 2026 — Goodwood, Newmarket, Thirsk, Doncaster, Lingfield & Hamilton Yesterday Three bets, three losses, minus three points. There is no way to dress that up and no reason to try. Scoville was unplaced in the Golden Mile, where Archivist came from nowhere to win at 16/1. Innichen
Yesterday Three winners from six bets, and a day that turned on execution rather than selection. Enceladus took the Gordon Stakes, struck at 3.20 and returning 2.68. Supplicate justified the faith at Nottingham despite drifting all afternoon, returning 3.25. And Exclusive Code landed the closing handicap in
Still smiling about the Sussex We are allowed one paragraph of self-congratulation a year, and yesterday earned it. Bow Echo carried our maximum stake in the Sussex Stakes and delivered — though he made us work for it. He took a keen hold, got shuffled and denied a clear run
Watching the market and seeing support for our old friend Sale Shark - if you remember, we put him up as a confident selection last time out and he could only finish 5th. He was dissapointing that day but still looks the type to keep onside. He won his debut over
