An interesting day. Three races make the shortlist, and in two of them our rating and the betting market are telling rather different stories — which is usually where the value hides, and occasionally where the trapdoor is. 15:30SandownListed · Class 1 · 1m · Good · 10 runners Fortune Stakes Trainor Stone &
Betting on horse racing has been a hard endeavour this week, low grade handicaps - end of season 2yo races and changeable ground. It is hard to keep turnover ticking along. There are seven races at Ascot and plenty of racing elsewhere, but having worked through the cards, and the video
There are good horses, there are Grade 1 horses, and occasionally there are those rare champions who become part of the rhythm of the National Hunt season. Galopin Des Champs was one of those horses. The news of his death at just ten years old is desperately sad, particularly coming
⚠️ WEATHER WARNING – CONDITIONS COULD CHANGE Before we get into today's selections, keep a very close eye on the weather and the going. At the latest update, Goodwood is Good to Firm, Sandown Good, and Windsor Good to Firm, Good in places, but light rain is around all three
There are plenty of interesting horses on show this afternoon, but from a betting perspective we are keeping things relatively simple. Really bang average racing today - nothing to report - let's have a day off and recover from York. Betfair account balance looks healthy this morning!! Aye aye!
Yesterday was another good reminder of just how quickly these markets can move. Several of our selections were strongly supported after we published, meaning the available prices shortened considerably from those we had assessed when doing the races. Price matters. Finding the right horse is only part of the job.
Yesterday proved another productive day, with Venetian Lion and Kalpana both obliging, while we also managed to pick up a few each-way bits and pieces from the handicaps. Kalpana had to dig deep in the Yorkshire Oaks, but class told and she held on by a short head, while
Yesterday gave us exactly the start to the Ebor meeting we were hoping for. Maltese Cross at 3.85 and, even better, Item at 14.5 both did the business and ensured a very healthy profit on the opening day. The one disappointment was Misunderstood, who again did himself no
